Parents Needed for Football, Hockey and Basketball Games
We need 6-8 parents to attend each football game and to keep students from playing instruments while the game is in progress. Parents are asked to keep band students in the stands and non-band students from joining the band.
We need 3-4 parents to attend each hockey game and ride the bus to and from the Vet Center. Parents are asked to keep band students in our section and not let them wonder the building.
We need 3-4 parents to attend each basketball game and sit by the band students and keep them from playing while the game is in progress. Parents are asked to keep band students in our section and non-band students from joining the band.
If you can help....give Mr. O a call, or just come on game night
Dear Parents,
IGH Band Boosters has a reputation for being a strong support organization. We have a core of tireless members who are always looking to share some of the responsibilities. No commitment is too small but there are some that require longer hours. If you take on one of these at least once during your child’s Simley band experience, you will have done a lot of good. Below is a list of volunteer jobs, starting with the easier ones and ending with those that require a bigger commitment.
Easiest
Attend a Band Booster Meeting—We would love to have your opinion. Meetings are set for the second Thursday of the month, start at 7pm and last about 1 ½ hours.
Take a shift or two at the spaghetti dinner or the Solo/ Ensemble. The dinner falls on a Sunday in March and the Solo/ Ensemble falls on the following Tuesday. Sign up at the Winter Concert. More details on the kinds of help needed may be found at the bottom of this page.
Bring a dessert to the spaghetti dinner.
More time required
Chaperone the Marching Band at parades—this is the most popular volunteer activity.
Chaperone the pep band at Simley sports events. See below for more detail.
Coordinate a fundraiser, such as, Happening Book Sale, Gerten’s Plant Card Sale, or Simeks Meat Sale. These are extremely important for providing opportunities for students to raise money to pay for the Marching Band Activity Fee, Simley Band T-shirt, Marching Band shoes and shorts, and of course, the Marching Band Trip. What is attractive about these volunteer opportunities is that they occur for a short time. Consider taking on one of these. Perhaps you will be able to commit to it for more than one year. You can find out a little more by clicking on the fundraiser calendar above.
Chaperone a Cub bagging shift.

Coordinate Adopt-A-Street. Organize a clean up of Cahill Ave between 70th and 80th Street. You choose the date and time ( couple of hours depending on the number of participants) This is a great service project for band lettering and civics class. We will supply the rubber gloves and plastic garbage bags.
